In a blind sighted hunger I did something today that I normally don’t do. Fast food isn’t my favorite type of food to say the least, its not even close. Today I stopped by the mothership of all fast food restaurants, MacDonald’s. And what did I see plastered all over the windows,Oatmeal at MacDonald’s.
Who would have thought?
So of course being the curious little creature I can be at times I HAD to have it. Now don’t get me wrong I do love a few things that come from MacDonald’s, in particular the fruit and walnut salad and the Holiday Custard Pies. The Custard pies alone will be the sole proprietor of my biweekly pay checks and by the end of the week my thighs have ballooned into Turkey legs from Disneyworld.
But less about my thighs and more about this new product…
Instant maple flavored oatmeal with a side of mixed fruit {apples green and red, Cranberries, and Raisins regular and golden} isn’t the most visually appealing item on the menu, but health wise It probably beats that new two dollar Big Mac by a mile.
So let us Break it down, Break it down, Break it down!
The oatmeal was rather plain to say the least; the maple taste was barely what one would call a hint of maple. If you’re like I, a lover of sweet oatmeal it would be best supplemented with two or more packs of sugar. Sort of runny, milky, and watery, not as thick as I like it, but then again this is the golden arches were talking about.
The Green Apples and sour are a tart taste that seems to be the black sheep in this family.
On the other hand the Red Apples were right in place and added to the taste of the dish.
The Cranberry’s OH. MMMMM.GEEE! I am not one who is big on cranberry’s but they surely were the star product, sweet, sort of tart and very good.
Raisins regular and golden…. Hmmm. I don’t know why they were even placed in the dish they weren’t good, they weren’t bad, they were just there, much like the whole concept of the dish.
So Would I deem this dish to be F-A-B-O-O?
No. but it would get a F-A or in the world of ordinary which I don’t live in two stars. I recommend this to anyone who doesn’t have the time to spend the 3 mins it takes to make Quaker’s Instant Oatmeal. Or that special person who has no clue how to use a microwave.
